These units work great. I am using 2 of these with my Apple MacBook Pro to store my photos on. Great knowing photos/data are safe. If someone steals my hard drive they can not access my files - even if they remove the drive and fit to another case - (I tried to see if you can).
They are also neat and tidy looking units and run so quiet you can not hear them operate. I have also fitted 320GB Seagate drives to mine.
Would definitely buy again.
What can i say about these??? well they're awesome. I have a 320GB HDD in my one at home. Data transfer speed is great and the look and feel to it is pretty neat, as it's made of plastic you don't have the humming/tin sound from the Metal enclosure RFID caddys that are around. A wonderful device, so wonderful i bought 3 ^_^
The instruction manual is easy to understand but would just be nice to have someone say do these exact steps to get it working. So i thought i'd help out a bit here in my review.
For Windows XP
1. Connect HDD to RFID caddy
2. Insert USB cable into caddy/PC
3. Go into Computer Management. (This is found in Control Pannel in the Administrative Tools folder)
4. select Disk Management
5. You now should see the HDD that you have connected up. if it has data on it - Copy it off NOW, if it doesn't have data on it or is unformatted (RAW) then delete all partitions. You should be left with a black and white bar that says ???.??GB - Unallocated (???.?? GB is the size of your HDD)
6. Just to be sure... Unplug the USB caddy from the PC and reconnect.
7. Wave each of the RFID tags that came with the caddy over the reciever which is at the end nearest to the Mini-usb port on the device, you will hear a beep for each tag you wave across it.
8. Wave your tag over the device and it should be ready to use, you may have to re-initialise & format the HDD once it's set-up, but thats a 2 minute job as you should still have the Disk management window open.
Done
Note: If it says disk is not initialized then Initialize it in the Disk management window, Right click on the box to the left hand side of the Black+white Unallocated Bar and select Initialise Disk.

I tried it with a 500gb Western Digitall HD and works fine.
Great product to keep my back-up save.
Well, with windows 7 it works just fine!
Being curious, i removed the case and connected the disc in another case (without rfid) and it appeared to me as blank disc - unactivated.
The test i didn't try was to scan the disc with data recovery software. It would be very interesting, but i donnot have the software or the machine to do it!
I had been tasked with finding a hardware solution to keep data from prying eyes. I saw this and ordered one to test it. Upon initialization (you MUST wave both tags over the drive when doing the initial setup or it will not be visible to the computer management console), I copied over some files and then tested it - the drive is invisible to the computer unless unlocked using the keytag, even when using a boot CD. About the only test left is to see if the drive contents work when removed from the casing - but I know I'm ordering a lot more of these.
