You get the flavor (and calories unfortunately) of oil-popped popcorn, far better than the Styrofoam texture and bland taste or air-popped, the forgettable microwave popcorn or the cooked, artificial flavor of movie popcorn. You save the trouble of stove-popped popcorn. With fresh, premium popcorn, this machine makes the good stuff that most people have either forgotten or never knew. Unfortunately there are some drawbacks. The lack of automatic shut-off and hot machine make this more trouble and danger than it has to be. |

But I'm not a fan of having to flip the whole machine over (those handles are Hot) to get the popcorn in the bowl. |

Two days later it would take much longer to get hot and then would effectively cut out. The kernels didn't get hot enough to pop but did get hot enough to darken considerably. This can't be the corn because all kernels came from the same huge container of popcorn. |

It also has two heat settings which I like. Nothing is perfect so here are the only bad things I have found so far. 1) The "stirring rod" can come loose on its own. It has to be removable to use it as a grill. It can work itself loose on its own. 2) The dome could be bigger making it possible to pop more popcorn at a time. But it still provides enough space that you can pop more than one person probably should eat. |
