It’s well designed and from an engineering standpoint, it’s made to work well under sunny and cloudy conditions.First of all, make sure to remove the plastic covering the solar panels, then just place it in your bird-bath/pool and watch it go. Since the fountain is designed to float on the surface, unless it’s operating in very shallow water, you don’t have to worry about the pump getting fouled with debris. Also, as others have mentioned, the flow does seem to go down a little under cloudy conditions, but that may be due to my battery not being fully charged.Speaking of the battery… The specs included in the package are different than those listed on the Amazon. The insert lists the battery as a 7.4V, 1000mAh Li-ion battery, the pump as a 7V, 1.0W pump, and the solar panel as a 10V 2.0W panel. Based on those specs, it will take about 4 hours to charge fully under sunny conditions. After that, the ratings state that it should be able to power the fountain for about 7 hours just on battery power. In any case, it’s a nice fountain and it definitely adds a pleasing aesthetic aspect wherever it’s placed. |

I tipped it toward the sun, and "voila"! I expect it to be spouting well once the sun moves overhead! |

Makes just a slight water noise, blends right in with the birds and the police sirens. Ahh, California. |
