Trying to decide which HDD enclosure to buy? 2.5 inch enclosures take the smaller laptop size drive, and while they are more portable and often don't require a power brick, the HDDs themselves are more expensive. 3.5 inch HDD enclosures are cheaper advantage and usually run cooler but are less portable than 2.5 inch HDD enclosures.

When importing HDD enclosures double check IDE and SATA requirements. Perhaps you could also provide your customers with the option of an included HDD. This will add to sales potential and minimize post sale setup problems from customers. Enclosures will always be a staple item for any drop shipper as demand is always high, especially in this age of digital media and essential backups.

When setting up and using a HDD drive there are some steps to go through. First remember to set the HDD to MASTER using the jumpers near the power connector. After you do this you will need to format your drive. Most enclosures work best with a FAT32 file system. Microsoft Windows limits FAT32 partitions to 32GB, but a third party HDD program like Paragon Partition Magic will easily format your HDD to any size and file system you want. While most mass storage enclosures are relatively easy to set up and operate, some of our media and NAS enclosures may need specialist knowledge to setup and operate.

NAS enclosures especially are not aimed at the consumer market and you'll need some intermediate network setup and faultfinding experience to get a NAS enclosure working painlessly.

It's a good idea to keep all your videos, music and photos each to their own common format to aid with compatibility and user recognition.
