Blackview Ultra A6: Making Good Ideas Better

The price of the Apple may taste sour so let me introduce you to the Blackview Ultra A6 that has an appearance which has been inspired by Tim Cook’s iOS device but has the super Android operating system instead; therefore allowing you more freedom for customization.

Android: Better than iOS

Android 4.4 comes pre-installed on this iPhone rival and has a newly polished, flatter interface. Google did away with the technophile neon blue-and-black color scheme and adopted a lighter, whiter palette that looks and feels friendlier and borrows some of its look from competitors like Windows Phone 8 and iOS 7. The Google Settings application first introduced in Jelly Bean is stuffed with more options. Now you can check up on your advertising ID, a semi-permanent alpha-numerical tag attached to your Google account to let the company know which ads to push out to you.

It features a 4.7 inch TFT display at 720×1280 HD resolution, One Glass Solution (OGS) protection for better scratch and break resistance, a powerful MTK6582 Quad Core processor at 1.3GHz speed and dual camera support. The MTK6582 has been designed to work with on 2G GSM and 3G WCDMA networks, and can easily handle the 720p resolution. The back of this phone is equally interesting as it has back touch control providing you more diverse usage.

This product is in stock now, we guarantee next working day shipping and offer a 12 months warranty on all our products. Brought to you by the leader in electronic devices and wholesale Android phones, Chinavasion.

    Introduction / Specs
Welcome to my review of the Blackview Ultra A6; a phone that starts out imitating and ends off standing on its own two feet.

    Display 4.7″ 1280×720 TFT LCD
    Processor MTK6582 Quad Core, 1.3GHz
    RAM 1GB
    Camera 2MP Front/8MP Back (Interpolation 5MP Front / 13MP Back)
Connectivity Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, WIFI, GSM,EDGE, GPRS, UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+,
    Battery 2200mAh
    Dimensions 139x67x9 mm / 145g
    OS Android 4.4.2
Storage 8GB (can be expanded up to 32GB via Micro SD)

    Build
The Ultra is a full plastic build and design. Okay, lets just get this off our chests right away: It’s trying to look like an Iphone 6. The phone is quite well built and does not feel cheap in the hand, although it can be a little slippery, making you feel as though you could drop it. Due to its removable back, the screen does protrude forward rather than being flush to the frame. The button placement of the volume rockers on the left and the power on the right, are in just the right location and are very tactile and responsive. On the base of the phone you will find a mini USB port for charging and data transfer, a mono speaker, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

    Display
The 4.7″ 1280×720 TFT LCD display is a real surprise. The sharpness and contrast are very good and it handles being out in the sunlight very well.

    Software
The Android 4.4.2 is basic and is very close to stock. The most interesting feature software wise is the ability to enter settings and choose an “IOS” mode, which transforms your stock android experience to an IOS 8 look and feel. This is not just a custom launcher, everything in the OS changes, from the look of the settings menu, to the calculator and lock screen etc.

    Performance
The overall performance of the Ultra was quite good. It handled everyday uses like scrolling through menus, playing games, surfing the net, watching videos and Youtube and taking photos or shooting videos, quite well. It did run into some trouble running graphic intensive games like Real Racing 3, but for the most part never lagged.

    Battery life
Although no intensive battery testing was conducted, I can say the 2200mAh battery seems very sufficient. In the month of testing the Ultra, I never found myself reaching for a charger during the day.

    Camera
The Camera is an 8mp shooter, and the best way to describe the camera is: it’s sufficient to take a photo with. Don't expect excellent low light performance or vivid HDR shots from this camera.

    Overall
The Blackview Ultra is an adequate phone, that is well built and is good in its own right. If this phone didn't try to imitate the market leader, it would still have been a success in my opinion.

For a very low cost you can get a phone that performs adequately and looks and feels good.
